Emptying a pump basket is a little bit trickier than a skimmer basket but once you know the steps it will be second nature! 

1. Turn off the pump. If its connected to automation, just change it to "service mode".

2. Close all of the valves in front of the pump. This is especially important if your equipment is above water level so you don't lose prime. 

3. Take the lid off, remove the basket, and clean it out.

4. Put the basket back in making sure the hole in the basket lines up with the pump intake and that it is pushed down all the way. Check to make sure the lid o-ring is still in place and that it is clear of any debris. 

5. Put the lid back on, reopen the valves and turn the pump back on. Watch inside the lid to ensure it fills all the way up with water and that you didn't lose prime. Once it does you're good to go!
